What Listing Data LLC collects when you visit brokerunion.com or use the Broker Union platform, how that data is used, who it is shared with, and how you can exercise your rights.

1. Who we are
Listing Data LLC (“Listing Data,” “we,” “us”) operates the Broker Union platform at brokerunion.com and the network surfaces connected to it (tenant subdomains, the public API, the admin consoles). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information collected through those surfaces.
For data that tenants (the brokerages and MLSs on the platform) collect and process inside their own walled environments, the tenant is the controller and their own privacy notice governs. Listing Data acts as a processor on the tenant’s behalf under contract.
2. Information we collect
2.1 You provide directly
- Name, work email, organization, and role — when you sign a tenant agreement, request API access, fill in a contact form, or accept an invitation.
- Account credentials — username/password or third-party identity-provider tokens for sign-in.
- Billing details — only the metadata needed to invoice and reconcile (entity name, billing email, tax identifiers). Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and not stored by us.
- Anything you choose to send us through email, support requests, or feedback forms.
2.2 Collected automatically
- IP address, browser type, device information, and pages viewed.
- Cookies and similar technologies needed for session management and basic analytics.
- API request metadata — timestamps, endpoint, status code, request size, key used.
- Telemetry needed to operate the platform (error reports, performance traces).
2.3 From third parties
- Identity providers (Google, Microsoft, GitHub, etc.) when you sign in via SSO — we receive the email and the basic profile fields you authorize.
- Payment / billing providers — confirmation that a charge succeeded or failed.
- Public business directories — only used to qualify enterprise inquiries.
3. How we use your information
- To operate, secure, and support the platform — including authentication, access control, abuse prevention, audit logging, and incident response.
- To bill for the services you use and reconcile payments.
- To communicate with you about your account, your tenant’s configuration, and material changes to the platform or these policies.
- To respond to inquiries, support requests, and bug reports.
- To improve the platform — including aggregate analytics that do not identify any individual.
- To comply with legal obligations (tax, lawful requests, sanctions screening) where applicable.
We do not sell personal information.
4. How we share your information
We share information only with:
- Service providers who operate parts of the platform under contract (cloud hosting, database, email, SMS, payment processing, error monitoring) and only for the purposes for which we engaged them;
- The tenant that you belong to (the brokerage or MLS whose environment you operate inside), within the limits the tenant’s administrator has configured;
- Government authorities when required by law or in response to valid legal process;
- A successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
5. Data on the public API
Listing and transaction data published into the BU network is subject to the Data Cooperation policy. That policy controls attribution, redistribution, permission flags, and removal — not this Privacy Policy.
6. Retention
- Account and profile records — kept while your account is active and for a reasonable wind-down period after closure (typically 90 days) unless a longer retention is required by law.
- Audit logs — retained for at least twelve (12) months for security and forensic purposes.
- Billing records — retained as required by tax and accounting rules in our governing jurisdiction (typically seven (7) years).
- Telemetry and error reports — typically thirty (30) to ninety (90) days, then aggregated.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict our processing of your personal information, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@brokerunion.com from the email address associated with your account.
If your data is processed by a tenant (brokerage or MLS) rather than by Listing Data directly, we will route the request to the tenant’s administrator and assist them in fulfilling it.
8. Security
- All traffic to the platform uses TLS.
- Credentials and tokens are stored encrypted at rest.
- Access to production data is limited to staff with a business need and is logged.
- If we learn of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you and the affected tenant promptly and consistent with applicable law.
9. International transfers
The platform is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
10. Children
The platform is not directed to children under sixteen (16) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Cookies
We use first-party cookies needed for sign-in, session management, and basic analytics (page views, error rates). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; clearing the sign-in cookie will sign you out.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced in the admin console at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
